Well that’s easy, Qnext is the only messenger that makes sharing your digital content (music, photos, and files) as easy as sending a message! That’s why we call it a Universal Instant Media Messenger. Qnext connects you to your IM buddies from almost any network, and let’s you instantly chat, transfer files, or share your music and photos.
No and no. Why would you ask such a thing? Seriously though, Qnext is and always will be a free download. Advertisers pay us so that you don’t have to.
Absolutely not! Qnext is all about the freedom to communicate and share with your friends no matter what program they use. You can chat, share photos, stream your music, and transfer files with all of your messenger buddies, no matter what network they are on. However, there are some cool things that only Qnext users can do with each other, like 4-way video chat, 8-way audio chat, multiplayer games, and much more!
Qnext uses Peer2Peer and Peer2Web technology to let you share your media instantly, without uploading it. This means that when your friend is listening to your music, or running a slideshow of your photos, your media is being streamed directly from you computer, privately. So it’s important to make sure that Qnext’s connection to the Internet is solid so you can enjoy faster downloads and more consistent audio streams.
At the top-left of your contact list there is a little light attached the Qnext logo. If this light is green then you are good to go! If this light is yellow then you will be able to enjoy all the benefits of Qnext, but you could still be doing a little better. If your light is yellow, click here for very simple instructions on how to have the best possible experience with Qnext.
First, install Qnext on that other computer. Launch Qnext and click the Retrieve link on the main login screen. Enter your User ID and then you will be prompted for your password. Now you can access your Qnext account and any zones available to you.
Qnext is very secure. Logon is 512 bit encrypted and every communication is encrypted at a SSL level which is more secure than the standard for online banking. We should point out that when using Qnext to talk to friends on other IM networks, we can only maintain the level of security employed by those networks.
Currently Qnext supports importing buddy lists from the following messenger networks: MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk and Jabber. We are working on expanding this list :)
You could have ten accounts on the same network! Once you add an IM account, it will be available at the top of your contact list for easy access. If you want to add another account, just click the “Add Contacts” button, and add the same IM network again. Now there will be two logos for that network at the top of your list, one for each account.
These are iZone buttons. If you ever want to let your friend listen to your music, view or download your photos, or browse through some folders and download what they want: think iZone! Just click one of the buttons and drag as many files or folders of that type of content (music, photos, or any type of file). Press share and voila! Your friend will instantly get a link to a webpage where he or she can access your stuff. An iZone is different from a regular zone because it’s easier to create and share and it is deleted automatically when you log off.
You sure can. Qnext supports importing whole or partial email address books from Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, AIM Mail, GMail, and .mac, plus you can add individual email contacts to your list as well that aren’t stored in a webmail address book. Once added to your contact list, you can send quick emails off just as you would instant messages, and you can share zones with your email contacts too.
Yup, free and easy. In fact, you can host a Voice Call with up to eight Qnext Friends, and a Video Call with up to four!
Only the best thing ever! Seriously though, a Qnext zone is a place where you can put as much music, photos, or files as you want and share it with anyone on your contact list. When they access it, they can listen to your music, view your photos, or download your files! The best part is that you don’t have to upload your stuff anywhere; a zone literally takes seconds to create and share. Qnext also just releases the iZone feature. An iZone is an instant zone that you create right inside the message window, and is automatically deleted when you log off.
Nope! You can send a zone link in an email or Instant Message. The recipient simply clicks on the link and can view your photos, listen to your music, or download your files from any standard web browser.
Yes, your computer must be turned on and Qnext must be running in order for your friends to access the zones that you send them. This is because Qnext shares your stuff securely right off your computer; that’s why it only takes seconds to share an unlimited amount of music, photos, and files.
One bajillion.
When someone shares a zone with you, you will get a notification message. In the future, you can just click on the ‘+ sign’ beside their name to see all the zones that are available.
You can stream MP3, Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, AU, AAC, WAVE and WMA audio files in a Music zone.
You can share JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TGA and TIFF images in a Photo zone.
All you have to do is find the file (or folder) on your computer, and then drag it onto the Qnext Friend you want to send it to and release the mouse. That’s it! Just drag and drop a file of ANY size, even your entire hard drive; there is no limit.
The deal is it lets you access your computer from anywhere in the world. Create an account by selecting Qnext MyPC from the Tools menu and then configure the type of access you want to grant. You can let yourself or others view or control your entire computer or just specific applications. Once you have an account set up, click here to access your computer. Qnext MyPC is set to be our first premium service offered on a subscription basis, but for the time being it is free. Please note that Qnext MyPC currently only works on computers running Windows, sorry.
Aww… You’re not too bad yourself! Just visit our Promote Qnext page for some cool banners that you can post to your website, blog, or MySpace page. While you’re there, check out the Graphic Resources page for some logos and screenshots too. Thanks for the support!
